Blue Valley Jungle Resorts is
in close proximity to the Mudumali Wild Life Sanctuary
and National Park, on the slopes of Nilgiris also known
as the Blue Mountains. Mudumalai means `ancient hill’
and true to its name the hills are 65 million years
old.
In recognition of its phenomenal bio-diversity with a rich
flora and faun, Mudumalai forest was declared as a sanctuary
in 1927 by the erstwhile rulers and became one of the oldest
sanctuaries in India. When biosphere reserves were declared
by UNESCO, the area of 321 sq km of Mudumali Wild Life
Sanctuary and National Park formed part of the 5500 sq.km,
Nilgiris Biosphere Reserves in India.
